  • The purpose of this position is to prepare and provide food service to patients in a cost-effective, efficient manner and to safely meet patient needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
  • Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner.
  • Prepare and assist in serving meals in accordance with the menu and recipes.
  • Meet regularly with Food Service Director regarding menus, service, procedures, etc.
  • Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation.
  • Prepare and assist in serving meals in accordance with the menu and recipes.
  • Maintain and record proper temperature controls, food storage and food rotation.
  • Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets.
  • Be responsible for avoiding food waste.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
  • Be responsible for care of food service equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments.
  • Attend in-service training programs for food service employees and as assigned.
  • Report any unusual incidents to the Food Service Director, Executive Director or Manager off Duty.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Food Service Director, Executive Director or Manager on Duty in an effective, timely and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Minimum of (1) year experience in restaurant cooking and general kitchen operations.
  • (1 - 2) years healthcare food service experiences preferred
  • Requires high school education or equivalent.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write and speak English. Must possess strong oral, written and
  • telephone skills.
  • Must be dependable
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must be in good health and physically/mentally capable of performing assigned tasks
  • Must possess knowledge of safe sanitation practices, safety practices and special diets
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR Obtain a Food Handler’s Permit
  • Capable of meeting all requirements that may be specified by the state or other regulatory
  • agencies.
