OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

  • Experienced Catering and Special Events Manager skilled in planning and executing events from start to finish. Oversees staffing, vendor coordination, and venue setup while managing client, resident, and guest relations. Responsible for daily catering operations, budgeting, BEOs, and cost control. Leads and trains event staff, supervises the event coordinator, and supports floor service to ensure seamless, high-quality event experiences.
  • Key responsibilities include managing inventory and vendor relationships, leading event planning logistics, updating catering systems, and ensuring compliance with ABC laws. The manager partners with culinary staff for production planning, maintains budgets and pricing structures, and ensures customer satisfaction through direct interaction and service recovery.
  • Must have strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the flexibility to work varied shifts. Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management degree preferred, along with 5+ years of food service management experience and ServSafe certification.

COMPENSATION: $25-$28 an hour / Full-Time Exempt

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Manages team to provide scheduled Catering and Special Events in accordance with WCCB, Catering and Dining Policies.
• Maintains proper staffing levels for events; manages payroll and performance evaluations.
•Trains team in catering functions including customer service, proper portioning, cash and beverage management, safety and
sanitation.
• Manage the Catering Department’s Wine and Spirits program to comply with all ABC Laws and Regulations.
• Manages inventory, purchasing and rental supplies of paper, tabletop, linen, alcohol, uniforms, and other supplies.
• Interacts frequently with customers to determine and ensure satisfaction and provide Service Recovery if necessary.
• Implements and maintains WCCB programs [i.e. Catering, On-line Reservations and Scheduling system], responsible for all
updates to Catering Software and POS System. Coordinates room bookings for any event on Campus, and is the liaison between
service and kitchen staff.
• Coordinate and Manage team huddles and demonstrate and reinforce Platinum Service Standards.
• Implements and maintains cash handling billing standards as outlined in the Dining Services and WCCB Policies and Procedures.
• Interacts daily with Executive Chef and Culinary Team to assist in production planning and reduce waste.
• Manage meetings with customers to plan events and manage functions for the community.
• Completes all daily, weekly and/or monthly reports as required by the position and department.
• Event Planner for events, Coordinates of all logistics and time lines for events.
• Maintain cost and pricing structures for Administrative, Resident and other customer events. Audits food and beverage cost
structures bi-annually. Sets budget goals and reports directly for the Catering Department during variance meetings.
• Assist or direct all ILU Events like outdoor events, Holiday Events, or Farmer’s Market.
• Maintains a clean, sanitary working environment. Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and
department sanitation procedures as evidenced through local health department and third-party audits.
• Follows Westminster-Canterbury, department, and Compass Group safety policies and procedures to include occurrence
reporting, including, but not limited to, Hazardous Materials, Waste Program, Emergency Preparedness Program, and Life Safety
Program.
• Ensures team assists in achieving stated resident satisfaction goals and drives internal catering satisfaction for administrative and
marketing functions. As well as any other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Culinary Arts Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management OR 5 years of progressive food service management
    experience.
  • ServSafe certified within one year of date of hire.
  • Extensive working knowledge of formal and informal styles of service, food safety/sanitation. Familiarity with Westminster-
    Canterbury is preferred.
  •  Strong analytical and problem solving skills to assess operating situations and evaluate alternate courses of action.
  •  Researching and writing skills to develop policies and procedures Department and Team.
  •  Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of accounting principles and budgets.
  •  Flexible Availability: Will work events scheduled days/night, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be mobile
- Must be able lift service trays
- May occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
